How to use The Acupuncture Answer Book as a Lecture Guide for groups of patients, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.

At start say something like this: “I’m here to take the mystery out of acupuncture, which has become a very popular health care method, with over 60 American acupuncture colleges graduating some 1000 fully-trained acupuncturists each year.”

Hold "Answer Book" up for all to see, then say this: “I’ll use this “Acupuncture Answer Book” as a guide. It explains in everyday language how acupuncture gets sick people well. In a minute I’ll give you your personal copy.”

Read aloud from the back cover of “The Answer Book.”

Read aloud pages 30 and 31 of the book.

Now pass a copy of “The Answer Book” to each person present. Be sure your name, address and phone appear on the back cover.

Say this: “This book is yours to keep, but right now let’s refer to it together. Please turn to page 5.”

Read aloud from page 5, but stop reading after point #1 and say this: “Now if you’ll turn to pages 16 & 17 you’ll see a representation of the meridian channels.”

Give audience a minute to examine meridian drawings, then say: “Now let’s turn back to page 5.”

Starting with point #2 continue reading from page 5.

After reading page 5 say this:
"Let’s get right to the question that’s usually on everyone’s mind: Do the treatments hurt? So let’s turn to page 12 for answers.”

Read page 12 and discuss if necessary. Then say: “Turn to page 6.”

Read pages 6 and 7 before turning to pages 8 and 9 concerning treatable conditions. Emphasize this is only a partial list of conditions expressed in western terms. At this point, audience will already have gained a rudimentary knowledge of acupuncture.

If time permits, continue reading and encourage audience to follow along in their own book. Discuss as desired.

Otherwise suggest they read the book as soon as they can and pass the book along to a friend.
